Vijf Leidse wetenschappers ontvangen een Consolidator Grant van de European Research Council (ERC). Met deze beurs van maximaal twee miljoen euro kunnen zij hun wetenschappelijk onderzoek voortzetten en uitbreiden.

Van fluctuerende hormoonspiegels bij vrouwen, via de inwendige structuur van reuzenplaneten tot de voorgeschiedenis van talen: zes Leidse wetenschappers krijgen een ERC Consolidator Grant.

Vier Leidse wetenschappers hebben een consolidator grant gekregen van maximaal 2 miljoen euro van de European Research Council (ERC). Ze doen onderzoek naar uiteenlopende onderwerpen, waaronder genderstereotypering bij exacte vakken en het maken van suikermoleculen.

Dit jaar hebben maar liefst twee Leidse natuurkundigen een prestigieuze ERC Starting Grant in de wacht gesleept. Met een budget van 1,5 miljoen euro is dit een van de grootste individuele beurzen voor wetenschappers.

Van 2 t/m 6 juni 2014 heeft Prof. dr. Frank den Hollander 2 voordrachten verzorgd tijdens de workshop ‘Recent Models in Random Media’ op het Centre International de Rencontres Mathematiques in Marseille (CIRM), een instituut dat gedurende het hele jaar workshops voor wiskundigen organiseert.

De ERC Council heeft aan vijf veelbelovende Leidse wetenschappers een Starting Grant toegekend. Twee gaan er naar Sociale Wetenschappen, een naar Geesteswetenschappen/Governance and Global Affairs, een naar het LUMC en een naar Wiskunde en Natuurwetenschappen.

In meta-analysis, heterogeneity often exists between studies. In such cases, it is essential to investigate the sources of heterogeneity and understand the relationship between effect size and study characteristics (i.e., moderators).
