This thesis consists of five chapters on how to construct prediction sets for different types of data and models in a parametric or nonparametric Bayesian paradigm.

Deepfakes zijn video’s die gemanipuleerd zijn om twee personen te verwisselen. Ze kunnen moeilijk te onderscheiden zijn van de originele video’s. In onze studie laten we zien dat mensen die meer complotdenken en mensen die meer gebruikmaken van social media beter zijn in het herkennen van deepfakes.

Gold nanorods are biocompatible nanoparticles that present an excellent two-photon signal that can be used to get high spatial resolution inside living cells. Gold nanorods are photostable and therefore can be followed inside cells for long time, with possible applications as trackers in live cells.

Op 7 december won Marlisa den Hartog de Volkskrant-IISG Scriptieprijs voor Geschiedenis. De titel van haar bekroonde werkstuk luidt ‘The Pleasure that is Taken in Bed: Perceptions of Sexual Desire and Sexual Identity in Italy, 1450-1500’. De scriptie van de laureate werd uit 37 inzendingen gekozen.
