Geen vertrouwen zonder betrouwbare informatie
Het vertrouwen in instituties - zoals de overheid en het rechtssysteem - is vandaag de dag allesbehalve vanzelfsprekend: het moet steeds opnieuw worden verdiend. Hoe is de zekerheid die we in instuties stellen zo wankel geworden? Door sociale media, politieke ontwikkelingen, of de ogenschijnlijk onoplosbaarheid van problemen? In deze lezing laat Wim Voermans zien dat het in de kern gaat om hoe instituties informatie gebruiken en produceren.*
Kunnen we informatie ook gebruiken om het vertrouwen in instituties te herstellen, en hoe doen we dat? Want als mensen informatie uit bronnen als de overheid, de media en de wetenschap niet langer vertrouwen, heeft dat ernstige gevolgen voor de toekomst van de democratische rechtsstaat.

To trust or not to trust ChatGPT?
Francesco Walker explores the groundbreaking AI chatbot's role in education. Students and educators alike are using it to explain and summarize complex concepts, explore unfamiliar facts and methodologies, debug code, write essays, and more. However, ChatGPT has also faced criticism for limitations in reasoning, a perceived lack of originality, and generating inaccurate information. While much attention has been given to the dangers of overtrusting the technology, less consideration has been given to the risks of undertrust—the reluctance to use ChatGPT even when it could provide meaningful assistance.
How do students actually use ChatGPT? How does trust, or a lack of it, shape their interactions? And what does this mean for the future of education? In this talk, Francesco Walker explores these critical questions, shedding light on the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI into learning.
