Content
Oriental landscape painting is more than just an artistic expression of nature—it is a profound reflection of humanity's relationship with the natural world.
Rooted in the agricultural traditions of Korea and China, where nature was revered as both precious and alive, these paintings embody a vibrant energy that connects people and their environment. Unlike inanimate representations, traditional landscape paintings depict nature as a living, breathing entity, resonating with the same vitality as human beings.
In this semester's course, you’ll immerse yourself in the fundamentals of traditional Korean landscape painting. Starting with an introduction to essential materials and techniques, you'll progress to creating your own works, drawing from real landscapes and conceptual visions—such as paradisiacal "imaginary landscapes."
Through this journey, you’ll explore the harmonious interplay of literature, calligraphy, and visual art, discovering the deep cultural and artistic heritage of Korean painting. Whether you're a beginner or have prior experience, this course offers an enriching way to express creativity and connect with tradition.
